Chapter 8: Finalizing the plan

"Alright—don’t move..."

The morning sunlight streamed in through the window as Chu Muge sat across from Gu Yao, carefully applying lipstick to her pale lips.

The shade wasn’t a deep rose red but a fresh, girlish pink.

The lifeless pallor was replaced by a more vibrant color, making Gu Yao seem almost alive.

In a daze, Chu Muge felt like she was seeing a living person before her.

This illusion made her heart race, her mind buzz, and she couldn’t help but lean in, like Adam and Eve tempted by the forbidden fruit, and lightly kissed Gu Yao’s lips.

The carefully applied lipstick was smudged by the kiss, and a natural fragrance filled the air. Whether it was the lipstick's scent or Gu Yao's, Chu Muge couldn't tell.

Gu Yao thought she should display some normal emotions at this moment, like—

Embarrassment?

After all, being kissed by a beautiful girl, she should feel shy!

But...

Maybe because she became a zombie and couldn't control her brain to secrete hormones, Gu Yao couldn’t feel embarrassed no matter what.

She seemed to have become asexual, and now her mind was only filled with thoughts of "eating" and nothing else! QwQ

If she could cry, Gu Yao felt she could shed a lot of tears for Chu Muge to see.

Too difficult.

"Gu Yao."

After their lips parted, Gu Yao heard Chu Muge softly calling her name.

It was the first time Chu Muge directly called her by name instead of simply "senior."

Chu Muge held her face, staring into her dull gray eyes, and said word by word, "Look at me."

Her wandering gaze gradually focused, "confused" as she looked at Chu Muge, seemingly waiting for her to continue.

Chu Muge chuckled softly, "I still remember the first time I mustered up the courage to invite you and got rejected. You looked just as confused then, and after realizing what was happening, you smiled and politely declined my invitation..."

"You were like that with everyone," Chu Muge sighed. "Polite and courteous, but you still kept everyone at a distance, not giving anyone a chance to get close to you."

...

That year was midsummer.

Chu Muge nervously straightened her slightly wrinkled clothes, hiding the bruises and scars on her arms, and gathered the courage to invite Gu Yao on the campus path: "S-Senior, can I have dinner with you tonight? Uh... I mean, a new Japanese restaurant just opened! Ovo"

When she spoke, Chu Muge's thoughts were a mess.

Yes, yes! This is just a friendly exchange between friends... Uh, besties! But... but what if she gets rejected by someone so popular...?

An immature invitation, anxious waiting, and a slightly blushing face.

But in the end, it was still a standard polite refusal.

"Sorry, I have something to do tonight." Chu Muge watched as Gu Yao smiled and nodded at her, but it seemed her eyes didn't reflect Chu Muge at all.

A gentle voice reached Chu Muge's ears:

"Maybe next time?"

There was no next time.

Both Chu Muge and Gu Yao actually knew.

Maybe next time they'd forget.

In Gu Yao's eyes, Chu Muge was no different from others, not seen in a different light, not treated specially, just an ordinary passerby.

...

"But in the end, I’m the winner."

Chu Muge held Gu Yao’s face, squinting happily:

"I’m the only one who survived and found you, senior."

"So now you are my trophy."

These words seemed to be spoken through gritted teeth:

"No one can take you away from me."

Gu Yao felt the hands on her face loosen as Chu Muge stood up with a smile, winking at her:

"So now it’s just the two of us, and you will completely accept anything I do."

Gu Yao: ...

Not exactly.

She just couldn't control her body right now, so she couldn't resist at all.

Chu Muge’s emotions were unstable, Gu Yao knew this well.

When they locked eyes before, Gu Yao indeed saw that scary madness and obsession in Chu Muge's eyes.

Does "Gu Yao" really have such charm? Is she some kind of walking drug?

And besides, given how beautiful Chu Muge was, it was surprising she would act so obsessively toward Gu Yao...

"Ah."

A soft exclamation from Chu Muge interrupted Gu Yao's thoughts.

Chu Muge picked up a long sword leaning against the wall, squinting:

"I remembered, I said last night that I’d find senior suitable clothes to wear."

Her gaze shifted to Gu Yao sitting on the chair, and she burst out laughing: "Senior, it’s about to be revealed, huh?"

Gu Yao: ...

:D

Are you crazy? Are you crazy? Are you crazy?

Fortunately, Chu Muge only joked for a moment before focusing on more important matters.

She muttered to herself, "But I still have to deal with that big guy first."

That thing wandering the streets could be discovered at any moment, making Chu Muge quite anxious.

A head-on fight was definitely not an option. Now there were two plans to choose from: either sneak away quietly or find a way to take it down and eliminate the threat.

With a complex look, Chu Muge rhythmically tapped the handle of her sword with her fingers, finally exhaling and leaning the long sword back against the wall. She picked up the crucifix necklace from the table and put it on.

This time she wore a loose black hoodie, exposing her delicate collarbones.

Chu Muge seemed to like wearing lazy-style loose clothes, and when not holding anything, she liked to hide her hands in the sleeves, which was oddly cute.

"We have to take it down."

She made a decision:

"Because that big guy can help you evolve..."

She walked lightly to Gu Yao, placed her hands on Gu Yao's shoulders, and leaned in to whisper in her ear:

"Because if I want senior to be smarter, she has to evolve..."

The last sentence had a hint of a smile:

"Otherwise, how will senior call me 'Master'?"

Gu Yao: ?

Girl, are you this twisted?

"I once saw senior reading 'Romance of the Three Kingdoms' by chance." Chu Muge gently massaged her shoulder. "I remember a description of Dong Zhuo's body after his death that left a deep impression on me."

Her voice was lazy: "Zhuo's corpse was fat, and the soldiers used his belly as a lamp, the fat flowing all over the ground."

"Why don’t we set that big guy on fire too?"

Chu Muge's tone was smiling:

"Anyway, it’s all fat, and we can make a roasted pig."

Her gaze shifted to the desk—there lay a simple hand-drawn map, with a place marked as "Gas Station" circled in red, suggesting where Chu Muge was about to go.
