Chapter 2: Salted Fish Leaps Over the Dragon Gate

Lou Yanan walked in with a smile, looking at the pale-faced, gray-eyed, lifeless Gu Yao, and said:

"Gu Yao, you look cuter this way."

Perhaps he thought the person in front of him was completely devoid of intelligence, so he didn't hide the greed and lust in his eyes as he slowly approached her step by step.

"Gu Yao, Gu Yao, Gu Yao..."

He chanted her name slowly, then crouched down in front of her and reached out a finger to poke her face.

Gu Yao watched the finger approaching her cheek and coughed lightly. A sudden impulse rose in her mind:

I really want to bite it.

Gu Yao thought fuzzily:

Fingers are like crispy shrimp, crunchy and juicy...

She was hungry.

They hadn't fed her for days! qwq

Although her mind was exhausted, her body was full of energy, like a runaway horse without the control of her brain.

Her body, bound tightly by ropes, began to twist violently, as if trying to break free, filled with an enthusiasm for eating.

Lou Yanan was startled by her sudden fervor and pulled his finger away from her mouth. After a moment's hesitation, he smiled and said:

"Gu Yao, should I help you pull out your teeth?"

Gu Yao: ?

Pull out my teeth?!

Why would he pull out her teeth?

Gu Yao, still muddled, tried to think with the little clarity she had left and suddenly remembered a scene from a comic she had read.

No... it can't be?

Her gray pupils slowly moved to Lou Yanan's face, and she stared into his smiling, almost squinted eyes.

Gu Yao, unable to sleep, stared at him for a while and saw the words written in his eyes—"lust."

Gu Yao: ...

Help! This guy wants to assault a zombie!

Wait, won't he get infected if he does that?

With too many yellow thoughts clouding her mind, Gu Yao's thoughts drifted far away:

Doing it with a man is out of the question. If I'm going to do something like that, it has to be with a sweet-smelling girl.

Honestly, Gu Yao thought the female lead, Chu Muge, wasn't bad at all.

Her thoughts drifted there briefly, but jokes aside, she had to fight back. Someone was about to assault her—wasn't it time to resist?

Gu Yao, with her dull gray eyes, stared expressionlessly at Lou Yanan.

Lou Yanan laughed, "Not saying anything? Are you accepting it?"

Gu Yao: ?

Are you insane? :D

Where did this delusional man come from?

She growled a few times, "Heh... heh..." in protest, but stopped because she found the sound too unpleasant.

How unpleasant. She didn't expect to turn into a zombie, but couldn't she at least get back her previous clear, sweet voice?

Gu Yao was not happy, she wanted to bite him.

Ah, an idea.

Lou Yanan had just stood up and began his monologue:

"Gu Yao, you always rejected my advances. You never thought you'd end up like this, did you?"

Anticipating no response, Lou Yanan proudly looked at the bound Gu Yao on the ground and laughed:

"Actually, I saw that zombie coming towards you, but I didn't warn you. Do you know why?"

Gu Yao didn't have the energy to roll her eyes; she was busy with something more important.

"Because I wanted to—Ow!"

His self-indulgent speech was interrupted by a sharp pain in his leg. Lou Yanan looked down in disbelief at Gu Yao, who was biting his leg fiercely. His heart started racing.

Blood oozed from the torn flesh, like sweet nectar, causing Gu Yao to instinctively squint her eyes in enjoyment.

Other zombies might not have thought of this because of their low intelligence, but Gu Yao did.

Her legs weren't tied, so she could wriggle on the ground like a fish out of water. All she needed was to seize the opportunity when Lou Yanan foolishly got close and launch a "salted fish leap over the dragon gate."

Although the posture was not elegant and extremely embarrassing, who cared? She bit him.

Lou Yanan's eyes widened in pain, and he quickly tried to shake her off. Seeing the blood at the corner of her mouth, he looked both panicked and resentful: "You b****—"

"Lou Yanan, are you in there?"

Suddenly, a student's voice called from outside the door.

Luo Yanan shivered and immediately responded loudly, "I'm here, coming out!"

Then he whispered nervously to himself, "I’ve to stop the bleeding,… I can't let them find out… I can't let them find out..."

His eyes landed on Gu Yao, and he gritted his teeth, his face darkening as he bent down to tear a piece of cloth from her clothing.

Gu Yao: ?(°A°)

Is he going to assault me?!

Before she could launch another attempt to bite him, Luo Yanan quickly stood up and used the torn cloth to dab at his wound, wiping away the blood.

Right now, Luo Yanan's attention was entirely off her. With the possibility of his wound being infected, he had no time to care about her.

He hurriedly discarded the cloth fragment and turned to look at Gu Yao, who was squirming on the ground. His voice was sinister, "You'll pay for this."

Gu Yao: o??o?

She's just a zombie, she doesn't understand.

Feeling quite satisfied, Gu Yao wanted to hum a tune, but what came out was a low growl.

The sound paused for a moment, then continued softly.

No problem, she's happy. She decided to call this tune the Zombie Song, dedicated as Luo Yanan's funeral. ^^

… By the way, did she just take out a minor villain from the book? Does that count as helping the protagonist in advance?

She's pretty awesome.

***

For the next few hours, Gu Yao did not see the door open again.

Actually, it must have been several days. After becoming a zombie, her sense of time became incredibly dull. Unable to sleep, she could only choose to zone out, and when she did, time passed very quickly.

The small storage room had poor soundproofing, so whenever people passed by, their footsteps and whispers would leak through the crack in the door.

Gu Yao often overheard them discussing how much food was left and how long it would be until reinforcements arrived. Occasionally, someone would mention:

"There's a zombie in here, don't open it."

… Gu Yao actually hoped they would open it.

Don't get her wrong! She doesn't want to bite anyone, it's just… could a girl come in and help button her shirt? (Shy)

These past few days, she had been struggling, but to no avail. Instead, her writhing on the ground had caused the buttons on her shirt to come undone.

The quality of this school uniform was ridiculously poor. After the buttons came undone, she felt a loosening around her chest.

In layman's terms: the twins were about to pop out.

Thanks to her bra, which was barely holding them in place, they didn't completely spring free.

"Gu Yao" had developed well, neither too big nor too small, just the right kind that was pleasing to the eye.

But having them almost pop out was distressing.

Gu Yao still wanted to voice her inner frustration: She was just out for a walk after a full meal...

Who did she offend?

Oh well, life goes on. As long as she's alive, it's fine.

She decided to just roll with it.

But the zombie virus within her seemed to subconsciously make her forget one thing:

She had bitten someone.
