Chapter 10

That night, there was no moon in the sky, and thick clouds covered it, leaving the outside in complete darkness.

Jiang Xiuxiu stepped outside and felt an overwhelming coldness all around her. The temperature outside was unusually low for a summer night, and the air felt like needles of ice piercing her skin and penetrating her bones, making her shiver involuntarily.

Under the locust tree outside the classroom dormitory, a figure stood, seemingly waiting for a long time.

Jiang Xiuxiu walked to the tree and, upon closer inspection, saw that it was indeed Li Xiaoxiao, the girl she had met once before.

At this moment, Li Xiaoxiao's face was as pale as white paper, and her eyes were red, clearly from recent crying.

As soon as she saw Li Xiaoxiao, Jiang Xiuxiu felt that she regained control of her body.

Li Xiaoxiao turned her head upon hearing footsteps.

"Mr. Wang," she said softly, "I am so cold."

The girl's voice trembled slightly, mixed with a hint of sobbing, eliciting sympathy.

Hearing this, Jiang Xiuxiu scratched her head and comforted, "It's okay, I am also very cold."

To be honest, it wasn't just a bit cold; she was shivering from the cold. "Just rub your hands together like me, and you won't feel cold."

Li Xiaoxiao was silent.

After hearing Jiang Xiuxiu's response, the girl's sorrowful voice suddenly stopped.

The two looked at each other, and the air became extremely awkward.

After a while, it was Li Xiaoxiao who spoke again, "Teacher, is there nothing you want to say to me?"

Jiang Xiuxiu thought, if I say more, won't you realize I'm not Mr. Wang?

She simply shook her head and replied, "No."

After speaking, she didn't want Li Xiaoxiao to keep stalling, so she asked directly, "Why are you looking for me? Speak quickly, I'm in a hurry."

Li Xiaoxiao was silent.

The girl's face, which had been filled with tears, could no longer maintain the sorrowful expression.

Her face gradually returned to a blank expression, and her eyes were filled with dark, resentful emotions.

In the darkness, the sixteen or seventeen-year-old girl shed the last trace of warmth. Her skin was terrifyingly white, and she stood silently, like a ghost climbing out of the abyss.

"Teacher," she said quietly, "I didn't expect you to actually have a wife."

Jiang Xiuxiu was silent.

Although Li Xiaoxiao's words made sense, for some reason, Jiang Xiuxiu felt that Li Xiaoxiao seemed to be mocking her.

But that wasn't the main point.

The main point was that Li Xiaoxiao wanted to kill her.

Almost instantly, Jiang Xiuxiu understood.

But just as quickly, Jiang Xiuxiu realized another thing.

If she wanted to kill her, why choose this moment? Couldn't she have done it earlier?

For example, right now, Li Xiaoxiao could have attacked her directly without any warning, there was no need to talk.

Unless something was restricting her, forcing her to delay.

And waiting a little longer would be the time for ghosts to appear.

In a flash of realization, Jiang Xiuxiu suddenly looked up and fixed her gaze on the girl in front of her.

She spoke, "You fell in love with your teacher, and he has a wife and child."

"You didn't know this, you were neglected from childhood, very unloved, and you longed to be loved."

"He showed you concern, he seduced you, and you fell in love with him."

Li Xiaoxiao stood there motionless, without any reaction to her words.

Jiang Xiuxiu didn't care about her reaction and continued, "When things were exposed, you took all the consequences and got a major demerit."

"But you still couldn't forget him, you still liked him."

"After avoiding you for a month, you couldn't bear it and asked to meet him tonight."

"And then he killed you."

Li Xiaoxiao's intent to kill was definitely not without reason.

If tonight's events were to repeat what happened twenty-four years ago, then something must have happened between Li Xiaoxiao and Mr. Wang.

A twenty-eight-year-old man and a seventeen-year-old girl in a physical struggle, the winner was obvious.

Not to mention, Li Xiaoxiao was clearly waiting for the right time to turn into a ghost and claim her life.

Li Xiaoxiao finally moved after hearing this.

"I didn't plan to reveal it so soon."

With a quiet sigh, the girl grinned, and her tears turned black and red, with corpse spots and bloodstains appearing on her pale skin. "It's just that the way you talk is really annoying."

Hearing this, Jiang Xiuxiu wanted to laugh but couldn't.

Facing a soon-to-be ghost, how could she escape?

And why did Mr. Wang want to kill Li Xiaoxiao?

It didn't make sense.

He had a lovely wife and child, connections, and a bright future. Even if there was a scandal, the blame would be on Li Xiaoxiao, given the love letters she wrote.

Li Xiaoxiao was silent and withdrawn, unable to refute rumors and, being a girl, was at a disadvantage. Compared to her, Mr. Wang could easily extricate himself, no need to risk everything.

Unless it wasn't Mr. Wang who struck first.

"Was it you who attacked first?" Jiang Xiuxiu suddenly realized. "You were the one driven to desperation, full of resentment, and took a reckless gamble."

"You died because you couldn't overpower Mr. Wang, and he fought back and killed you."

Now, Li Xiaoxiao's expressionless face finally showed significant emotional fluctuation.

She stared at Jiang Xiuxiu with dark, angry eyes and screamed, "Shut up!"

She suddenly reached out, her fingers like white bones, clawing fiercely at Jiang Xiuxiu.

Seeing the fierce attack coming, Jiang Xiuxiu was prepared and quickly stepped back, barely dodging the attack.

The girl's fingers were sharp, shrouded in faint black mist, tearing through Jiang Xiuxiu's clothes and leaving a large hole, the mist seemingly corrosive.

Seeing this, Jiang Xiuxiu gasped.

And this was before Li Xiaoxiao had fully turned into a ghost.

Without thinking, she turned and ran, circling the big locust tree.

Meanwhile, her mind raced.

Mr. Wang had no tools, and Li Xiaoxiao was prepared, so she likely died by her own weapon.

What would she bring?

A knife wouldn't work; one stab probably wouldn't kill him, and Mr. Wang's cries would alert others.

Poison? Li Xiaoxiao was confined in the academy, watched by others, with no way to get poison.

The most likely tool that could silently kill and was easily obtainable was a rope.

At this moment, Li Xiaoxiao grew impatient.

A strange red light flashed in her eyes, and black mist gathered in her hand.

As Jiang Xiuxiu circled to the other side of the tree, Li Xiaoxiao grabbed the trunk, the black mist corroding a large hole in it.

With a loud cracking sound, the entire tree fell.

Jiang Xiuxiu quickly ducked, barely avoiding the attack.

Gritting her teeth, she took a risk and jumped at Li Xiaoxiao.

In the next second, while Li Xiaoxiao was caught off guard, she reached into Li Xiaoxiao's pocket and pulled out a large coil of rope.

As luck would have it, she had once asked Li Xiaoxiao for directions to get a rope.

It seemed that Li Xiaoxiao's misdirection partly stemmed from fear of her discovering the plan.

"No!"

Seeing this, Li Xiaoxiao was shocked and reached out to grab the rope.

As soon as Jiang Xiuxiu got the rope, she quickly stuffed it into her bosom and laid over to protect it.

Li Xiaoxiao's sharp nails dug into her back, causing deep, painful wounds.

But that didn't matter since Jiang Xiuxiu had only 10% pain sensitivity.

Taking a deep breath, she rolled to the side.

She flipped over, got behind Li Xiaoxiao, and before Li Xiaoxiao could react, looped the rope around her neck.

Then, she pulled tight.

"Ahhh!"

As soon as the rope was around Li Xiaoxiao's neck, she trembled, her face showing fear, her struggle weakening.

A clear black mark appeared on her neck, and her aura weakened.

The black mist around her flared up and dissipated.

Finally, after two or three minutes, it vanished completely.

Jiang Xiuxiu, already weak and injured, after running from Li Xiaoxiao for so long and strangling her for three minutes, felt exhausted and let go.

The girl's body slipped from her grasp, falling to the ground, hair disheveled.

She was dying.

"Mr. Wang," Li Xiaoxiao murmured.

Her eyes were unfocused, her voice hoarse from the throat injury.

Even in death, this poor girl yearned for Mr. Wang.

Even though he ruined her life.

A shallow tear slid down her cheek, mixing with blood, disappearing into the grass.

Seeing this, even the previously harried Jiang Xiuxiu couldn't help but sigh.

Li Xiaoxiao's life was indeed too tragic.

But this was just a game setting. Jiang Xiuxiu moved on after 2 seconds.

After carefully examining Li Xiaoxiao and confirming she wouldn't act up again, Jiang Xiuxiu stood up, ready to go back and rest.

However, before she could take a few steps, she heard a faint, almost inaudible whisper behind her.

"Demon."

Hearing this word, Jiang Xiuxiu shuddered and quickly turned around.

In the dim light, Li Xiaoxiao had already breathed her last and was completely dead.
