Chapter 4

The classroom apartment is located in a relatively remote area within the academy, and it is a place where players sleep.

The apartment has two floors with a total of twenty rooms and a very large hall.

By the time Jiang Xiuxiu returned, most of the other players had already arrived.

Most of the players had either grouped up or found a room to rest, leaving the hall quiet when Jiang Xiuxiu returned. The only person in sight was a woman who looked about twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old, sitting on the sofa as if she was waiting for someone.

Seeing Jiang Xiuxiu return, the woman looked up and smiled at her.

Jiang Xiuxiu remembered her. Her name was Shu Xin.

When they first entered the game, Shu Xin had asked if she wanted to team up.

At the time, Jiang Xiuxiu was a bit cautious because she had read on forums about many cases where players were betrayed by their teammates.

But she didn’t care anymore, she couldn’t clear the game anyway. Whether the other party had good or bad intentions made no difference.

“If you want to rest, you can find an empty room,” Shu Xin reminded her specifically at this time. “Generally, a room with a key on the door handle is empty. Rooms without a key already have someone in them.”

“There will be ghosts wandering around at night. Remember to stay wary.”

According to the settings of Survival Horror, there are four types of entities in the game: players, NPCs, ghosts, and bosses.

Both ghosts and bosses can harm players. Ghosts require certain rules to hurt players, and players can find ways to escape the danger.

However, bosses’ attacks are usually uncontrollable, and survival depends entirely on the boss’s mood.

This is why many players choose to team up, with teammates, they can help each other escape from ghosts.

At the beginning of the game, to resist ghosts, there were even instances where everyone would hide in the hall together.

Jiang Xiuxiu had already learned about the existence of ghosts while browsing forums.

Ghosts were part of her plan to seek death.

But the information online was often superficial and sometimes fabricated.

Jiang Xiuxiu wasn’t even sure if ghosts appeared at night.

After hearing Shu Xin’s words, Jiang Xiuxiu nodded and thanked her, “Thank you.”

Shu Xin seemed to have good intentions, otherwise, she wouldn’t have said so much to her.

“It’s nothing,” Shu Xin said with a smile, shaking her head. “If you discover anything new in the future, you can find me. I can offer you information or rewards.”

Noticing something, Shu Xin’s expression suddenly changed from casual to serious.

“Wait, Jiang Xiuxiu, what’s that on your neck?”

On her neck?

Jiang Xiuxiu touched her neck in confusion, but Shu Xin quickly took a small mirror from her pocket and handed it to her.

Looking down, Jiang Xiuxiu saw several black fingerprints where Xu Bai had just grabbed her.

These fingerprints were hidden well under her high-collared coat, making them hard to notice. But now, they gave off an eerie feeling.

“Can you tell me about your experience?” Shu Xin, having discovered new information, sat up straight, abandoning her previous casual demeanor. “I can exchange it for other information.”

“Sure.” Jiang Xiuxiu noticed that Shu Xin seemed to know a lot and had some questions for her as well, so she didn’t hesitate and nodded.

She was really curious about what was going on with the girl with the love letter.

If it weren’t for that girl, she wouldn’t have been targeted by boss Xu Bai.

“Come, let’s talk in my room.”

Seeing this, Shu Xin grabbed Jiang Xiuxiu’s hand and wanted to take her away.

Considering her experience wasn’t suitable to be discussed in front of everyone, Jiang Xiuxiu followed Shu Xin.

Thud, thud, thud.

Suddenly, hurried footsteps came from outside the apartment.

Jiang Xiuxiu turned around and saw a strange man running towards them.

Something was off about him, especially as he got closer, it became more obvious.

Unlike the calm and silent Shu Xin, his expression was one of panic and anxiety, as if something was chasing him.

Seeing Jiang Xiuxiu and the others in the rest hall, the man looked relieved as if he had found saviors and reached out to grab Jiang Xiuxiu’s arm.

“There’s someone there, a shadow. It’s in the school, watching us. It wants to kill us!”

His voice trembled and was sharp with fear.

Caught off guard, Jiang Xiuxiu took two steps back, avoiding the man’s hand.

In her panic, she accidentally noticed the teacher’s badge on his clothes.

Then she froze.

She recognized this name.

Due to the strange behavior of the girl with the love letter, Jiang Xiuxiu had gone to the office to check.

Her memory was always strong, and even though she had only glanced at the teachers’ schedule, she remembered it well.

According to the schedule of Cihe Academy, three different players would teach classes from Monday to Friday, with weekends off.

If she remembered correctly, this distressed player in front of her was one of the two other players besides herself who needed to teach today.

Why did he become like this? Did something happen during class?

“Really, can’t you see? Can’t you hear?” The man’s eyes were wide with tension, red veins covering the whites. “A demon, there’s a demon. It’s right behind you.”

“Let’s go, don’t mind him, he’s doomed,” Shu Xin quickly pulled Jiang Xiuxiu, urging her to move to the hallway.

Jiang Xiuxiu, already frightened by the man, didn’t hesitate and followed Shu Xin.

The man didn’t follow them, only grabbing his hair frantically, muttering something indistinctly, and screaming madly, as if trapped in some hallucination.

Before turning into the room, Jiang Xiuxiu couldn’t help but glance back.

In the bright and empty lounge, the man stood alone, his eyes filled with hatred and resentment as he looked at Jiang Xiuxiu.

But when Jiang Xiuxiu looked back at him, he withdrew his malice, forcing a strange smile.
